Sandra Ann Lauer dominated European charts with eighteen top 20 hits in the second half of the 1980s and early 1990s, and did so with the help of her musical partner and husband Michael Cretu after.
Early in her career, from 1979 to 1984, she was the lead singer of the female disco trio Arabesque, with whom she had a massive following especially in Japan. Later, as a solo artist, she had her first international success with the single “(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena” in 1985, followed by “In the Heat of the Night” that same year. In 1986 it was with “Hi! Hi! Hi! “Then” Everlasting Love “in 1987,” Heaven Can Wait “in 1988 and” Hiroshima “in 1990.
Her most famous were the 1988 album Into a Secret Land and 1992 Close to Seven. Between 1990 and 2003 she lent her voice to albums released by the musical project Enigma great initial success; through the first two got to reach the top 10 lists in the United States and Britain.
